Whistler Bike Park trail: Canadian Open
OG CDN OPN DH Location: Whistler Mountain Bike Park – Spectators with a bike and a Whistler Bike Park lift ticket can catch some of the action by riding down adjacent trails to view races. Spectators without a bike can catch the finish line in Skiers Plaza in Whistler Village. Kindly note that open alcohol is not permitted.
Straight down, no mercy, under the watchful eyes of downhill fans around the world. The OG Canadian Open DH course is a one run take-down of Whistler’s rooty single-track. Staged on the opening weekend of Crankworx, this is one of the biggest events of the festival, attracting elite downhill experts from around the world. Pro, aspiring and amateur racers, claim your spot at the start gate. Fans, grab your spot on track and get ready to take in the speed and skill of some of the world’s fastest.

RACE LICENSES
As a Cycling BC-sanctioned AA event, this race requires proof of Cycling BC membership or a UCI License from another province/territory, or country with the correct designation before you can pick up your race number/check in. Single-Event Licenses are only available for specific categories outlined above. For more information, please review the Technical Guide.
LICENSE CHECK
All competitors will have their race licenses check prior to receiving their race plate.
LIFT TICKETS
Registered athletes will have access to discounted lift tickets. Ticket prices will be listed in the race Technical Guide and available for purchase from the Crankworx Whistler Athlete Centre/Rider’s Office.
TECH ZONE
Teams looking for space in the Tech Zone can fill out our 2026 application form.
TRAINING REQUIREMENT
There is a mandatory training requirement for the event. Minimum 2 training runs must be completed during the scheduled training sessions and verified by a commissaire. Riders who have not completed the training runs during the scheduled training sessions won’t be allowed to start Finals.
Riders must start all training runs at the official start gate.
FORMAT
Finals only, 1-run for all categories.
Start order for finals will be determined using Crankworx DH’s, Phat Wednesday, Roots and Rain data.
TIMING
Timing for the DH race will include laser timing for start and finish times and timing chips for on-course split times.
- Athletes will receive their Timing Chips at the top of the course and be expected to mount the Timing Chips to their bikes with two zip ties, provided by the race organizers
- Athletes are responsible for ensuring their Timing Chip remains on their bike during the race, and gets returned to a race official in the finish corral before leaving the race
- If an athlete does not return a Timing Chip that has been allocated to them, they will be responsible for getting the Timing Chip to the race organizer after the festival or will be subject to a replacement fee of 80.00 EUR
PROTECTION RULES
Full face helmet with peak mandatory for all riders. Gloves, elbow and knee protection mandatory for riders 15 and under.
HELMET CAMERAS
The use of a helmet camera is permitted under the following provisions
- Official Training Sessions – for both Group A & B
- Finals – only for Group A
