Voices of the Scene
Riders who’ve helped shape SilverStar are also part of the weekend action. Vernon’s Bas van Steenbergen, a two-time King of Crankworx, Dual Slalom master and Pump Track genius is designing and building this year’s Dual Slalom track for its return to the events roster.

Noah Milner, part of Canada’s DH World Cup team and SilverStar athlete, will be part of the story. Milner recently competed in his first junior World Cup races for Canada at Val di Sole and La Thuile. He had this to say about his home bike park.
“SilverStar means a lot to me, I’m sure every avid mountain biker in Vernon would tell you the same thing. It’s a place where I can go and spend a whole day training and get in my own little bubble and have an amazing time. Or I can go up there and within 15 minutes I’ve met up with friends and have a crazy fun day riding jump trails. SilverStar will always mean a lot to me and I’m glad we can share it with everyone this summer.”
Milner himself will be competing in the Downhill race. Previously having split his time between disciplines in Pump Track challenge, Dual Slalom, however this year focused solely on the DH race.
“My mindset coming into the race is a little different than coming into most races because I already know the track. SilverStar being a continental race means that a top 5 is crucial as that would give me a golden ticket for another World Cup race. However, I try not to focus on the results and focus on the process of the weekend. If I get down and I’ve ridden my best race and the results aren’t there I know I need to get back in the lab and work on things, and if the results are there of course I’ll be happy because that’s the goal.”
