BOSCH eMTB Challenge Joins Crankworx Whistler Lineup for 20th Anniversary Festival
Athlete registration now open for this dynamic new addition to the world’s biggest celebration of mountain biking
As Crankworx Whistler prepares to mark its milestone 20th edition this August 8–17, the festival is proud to announce the addition of a brand-new event to its action-packed schedule: the BOSCH eMTB Challenge. Blending competition, exploration, and innovation, this unique race format will bring a fresh new flavour to the world’s most iconic mountain biking festival.
Since its debut in 2017, the BOSCH eMTB Challenge has carved out a global reputation as a standalone racing series that blends eMTB racing and adventure like no other. With stops in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and now – for the first time ever – Canada, the series is expanding and making its Crankworx debut on Whistler’s legendary trails.
“Adding the BOSCH eMTB Challenge to our Whistler program is a natural evolution for the festival,” said Darren Kinnaird, Managing Director at Crankworx Events Inc. “As the eBike space grows, so does the diversity of the riders and race formats we celebrate. This event is going to bring something completely new, challenging and exciting to the schedule for all levels of riders.”
Event Highlights:
- Date: Friday, August 15
- Global Series: Part of a five-stop tour in 2025 (Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Canada) – see all details here
- Racing Format: Timed Stages mixed with untimed Transfer Stages – no course pre-riding, riders see the trails for the first time during the race
- Three Categories: Amateur, Advanced, and the new Pro Series for competitive and elite riders
- Course Specs: ~35km of trail, ~1,000m of elevation, blending technical challenge, scenic adventure, and battery strategy
- Navigation: Via GPX file (for Bosch displays, GPS devices, or printed maps)
- Official VIP Après: all riders get access to the VIP zone at the RockShox Canadian Open Downhill including refreshments
