Bas van Steenbergen Partners with Outdoor Research for the Season Ahead

As the 2024 Crankworx World Tour season looms on the horizon, anticipation surges amongst athletes gearing up for the adventures that lie ahead. Bas Van Steenbergen, BMX racer turned 2x King of Crankworx, is sharing with us his insights and aspirations for the upcoming season.

Reflecting on past years, Bas expressed contentment with his achievements, stating, “I think the last couple of years I have really put everything into Crankworx and I’m pretty happy with what I’ve been able to accomplish.” However, he hinted at a broader outlook for the 2024 and eagerly embracing new opportunities, sharing, “I think this year I have a lot of different projects on the go, and I am super stoked to see how everything unfolds throughout this season.”

One of those projects is his recently announced partnership with Outdoor Research, renowned for its research-led innovation in outdoor gear. Van Steenbergen expressed his excitement on the collab: “I am super stoked on partnering up with OR (Outdoor Research), I was honestly kind of mind blown when they reached out. Knowing a bit about their legacy and reputation as a brand it was something I jumped on right away. We have already done some cool projects this winter and will be doing more this summer as well, I’m super stoked for everybody to see what they have been working on!”

Offering insights on what we can expect from the brand’s entrance into the mountain biking space, Bas shared: “I think you can expect exactly what you would imagine OR would bring to the table. Seeing the processes that are in place and the care they take when developing a product before it comes to market is honestly something I haven’t seen before.”Applauding the brand’s meticulous approach to product development, he expressed confidence in the quality of their gear, emphasizing his own appreciation for the equipment.

Discussing his goals for the season opener, Crankworx Rotorua, he emphasized the importance of finding a balance between performance and enjoyment. “I want to get some good results, which means podiums or wins,” he noted, “but I also want to make sure I am actually having a good time so I’m stoked to take in all Crankworx has to offer,” highlighting his eagerness to immerse himself in the full Crankworx experience.

With new projects and passion propelling him forward, Bas is geared up for the challenges of the Crankworx World Tour once again. Fans can catch the Crankworx Rotorua action live on Red Bull TV this March 16-24, 2024.
