Crankworx Christchurch – Athlete Registration Terms and Conditions
Introduction
Please read the entire athlete agreement (“Terms”) carefully before signing (or, in the case of online acceptance, by electronically checking the box provided). Each participant (“athlete, you, your, I, me”), must sign or agree to these Terms before competition commences.
I acknowledge and agree as follows:
All pricing is displayed and charged in New Zealand dollars and includes relevant taxes. Crankworx Christchurch (including Mountain Bike Events Limited and Crankworx Events Inc) (“Crankworx Christchurch, we, us, our”) reserves the right to alter published prices at any time.
The following terms and conditions are applicable across all Crankworx Christchurch sport events.
Defined Terms:
“Force Majeure Event” means any event or cause beyond the reasonable control of a party, including but not limited to, interruption or prevention by any riot, governmental order or regulation; labour strikes beyond the reasonable control of the parties; acts of war; acts of terrorism; fire; flood; adverse weather conditions; drought; natural disaster; pandemic; epidemic; infectious disease or virus or any other event commonly referred to as an “Act of God”, and any adverse movement, or the announcement by the Government of an impending adverse movement of New Zealand’s COVID response.
Alterations to Dates/Schedule:
We reserve, in our absolute discretion, the right to alter the dates/schedule of the Event or cancel any Event and will use all reasonable endeavours to provide you with reasonable prior notice of the change of date or cancellation.
We reserve the right to add, withdraw, or substitute any riders, performers, or activities associated with the Event.
I agree that Crankworx Christchurch have the right to postpone, delay or cancel the event; or alter the advertised course or start time of the event for any reason. If this occurs, I consent to the changes and I agree that each and every one of the conditions herein set out shall apply to that changed event.
Force Majeure Event:
We will not be in breach of any of our obligations to you under these Terms because of any failure on our part directly or indirectly due to a cause beyond our reasonable control, including a Force Majeure Event.
Consumer Guarantees Act 1993:
If you buy, or claim to buy a ticket for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 will not apply. This does not change the rest of these terms which remain valid.
Official Registration Close Date:
Registration for Crankworx Christchurch events will close on Sunday 15th February 2026 at 11:59pm NZDT.
Refund Policy:
All entry fees, minus a $15 NZD administration fee, are fully refundable for any reason up to 30 days prior to the official registration closing date.
All entry fees, minus a $15 NZD administration fee, are eligible for a 50% refund for any reason, up to the official registration closing date.
All entry fees are non-refundable or transferable after the registration deadline of Sunday 15th February 2026 at 11:59pm (even in the case of injury or mechanical problems). After this deadline, no refunds will be issued except where required by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable law.
If the Event is cancelled in full and not rescheduled, you may be entitled to a refund or credit in accordance with applicable law.
Refund requests must be received in writing to nzathletes@crankworx.com.
Competitors who need to withdraw after the registration deadline should email nzathletes@crankworx.com to confirm their withdrawal otherwise they will appear on the start list as a DNS.
I have read the information concerning withdrawal, cancellation of the event, and refunds of entry fees and agree to all conditions set forth in the event information. If the event is cancelled due to extreme weather, natural disaster, or any other condition beyond Crankworx Christchurch’s control, I understand that my entry fee will not be refunded.
No Refund if No Payment:
If no monetary consideration has been paid for a ticket, no refund or other costs will be payable to the holder of such ticket in the event of cancellation, postponement or change to the Event, or for any reason whatsoever.
Refund request process:
For all registration ticket refunds, email nzathletes@crankworx.com with your contact details, and all ticket transaction information. If you are eligible for a refund, we will make the refund payment to the credit card that the tickets were purchased with. If the credit card you used to purchase has expired, please note this in the email and our representative will contact you for new details. If you purchased a ticket using EFTPOS or cash then please provide bank details so we can refund you directly. Please do not provide credit card details in emails. Proof of purchase will be required for any refund or exchange. Bank refunds will only be made to New Zealand bank accounts.
Refund Request Timeframes: Subject to consumer legislation, no refunds for registrations will be given if a refund request is made after 7 days from the date the Event was scheduled or 7 days of the re-scheduled Event date being advised.
Pricing and Promotions
Promotional offers and discounts may be available for a limited time as part of our sales campaign. Such offers are time-limited and are not applicable retrospectively. Registration purchases made prior to or after a promotion period are not eligible for price adjustments.
Disorderly Behaviour:
Individuals or groups involved in disorderly conduct will be escorted from the venue and tickets will be made invalid for the remaining days of the event. This may include the use of foul language, fighting, abuse of other patrons, or any other activities that are seen to impede the event in any way.
Any athlete, official, or spectator engaging in disorderly conduct or unsportsmanlike behaviour may be removed from the venue, disqualified from competition, and/or have their accreditation or registration invalidated for the remainder of the event.
This includes but is not limited to: use of foul or abusive language; physical aggression or fighting; harassment of athletes, staff, volunteers, or spectators; deliberate interference with another competitor; failure to follow the directions of event officials; tampering with course features; or any activity deemed to bring the event, its partners, or the sport into disrepute.
Crankworx Christchurch reserves the right to refuse entry, revoke accreditation, or remove any person from the venue for breach of these terms, intoxication, aggressive or antisocial behaviour, or failure to comply with security or official requests.
Athletes acknowledge that official event registration, briefings, competition venues, and ceremonies are held on both private and public land, and they must respect land/property owners and the public at all times.
Crankworx Christchurch reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any person from the venue for any reason including, but not limited to, breach of these Terms, intoxication, aggressive or antisocial behaviour, or failure to comply with security requests.
I understand that if I am involved in disorderly conduct (as an individual or within a group), I will be escorted from the venue and my registration will be made invalid for the remaining days of the event. This may include the use of foul language, fighting, abuse of other patrons, or any other activities that are seen to impede the event in any way.
I understand that the official event registration, briefing, start and finish, event, plus prize giving will be held at both private venues and public sites and I must respect land/property owner’s and the public’s rights.
Dangerous/Prohibited Goods
Dangerous/Prohibited Goods include, but are not limited to: Fireworks, glass bottles and cups, alcohol, knives, weapons of any sort. Goods intended for sale. Unauthorised products intended for giveaways. Drones (unless the patron also has written consent for use from Crankworx Management).
Patrons will be subject to a bag check on entry to the venue. Any items deemed to be potentially dangerous or prohibited will be confiscated and disposed of by security personnel. Confiscation of goods may also lead to expulsion of the patron from the venue.
Alcohol Consumption:
The venue is a licensed premises.
Bringing alcohol into the venue is strictly prohibited.
Alcohol will not be served to underage patrons.
The liquor licensee (OnGroup New Zealand) has a legal requirement to exclude or remove intoxicated patrons.
Conditions of entry will be strictly enforced.
Patrons may be asked to present current photo ID or a NZ Driver’s License as proof of age from time to time.
I understand that my possession of any dangerous/prohibited goods could lead to confiscation of them and/or my registration being made invalid for the remainder of the event, including expulsion from the venue.
Drone Policy
Christchurch Adventure Park is a restricted airspace with aerial cableways therefore the use of drones is not permitted at the event. This policy extends to any event venues outside the Christchurch Adventure Park. In special cases, a permit to fly a drone may be granted provided that the user has received permission from the Crankworx Christchurch Management, and Civil Aviation Authority. Crankworx Christchurch Management have established a process for facilitating the use of drones. Please email nz@crankworx.com for more information.
Drug Testing Policy
I agree to abide by all Anti-Doping testing protocol & procedures undertaken by Drug Free Sport New Zealand in association with Bike NZ – an affiliate of World Anti-Doping Agency.
Animal Policy
Animals are not permitted on-site of Crankworx Christchurch or Christchurch Adventure Park venues.
For the purposes of this policy “Animal” means any bird, reptile, or mammal.
Exceptions: Assistance animals trained to assist a physically impaired person in one or more daily life activities, including but not limited to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Companion Dogs for the Deaf, Canine Companions for Independence, or those associated with a comparable nationally recognised organisation.
Safe Participation in Event(s)
I understand that the events taking place involves mountain biking. I am aware it carries a degree of risk and can be a potentially dangerous activity capable of serious injury or death as a result of participation. I agree that my participation in this event is entirely and knowingly at my own personal risk, and I am solely responsible for my own safety and property, including the cost of any services required in recovery of myself or my property as a result of an incident. I am aware the hazards include, but are not limited to, the condition of my equipment, actions or inactions of myself, other competitors, spectators, sponsors, the Organiser and officials, contractors, land and property owners, members of the public, the weather conditions, air temperature, and all natural or man-made features encountered on the course.
I acknowledge that safety precautions undertaken by Crankworx Christchurch (such as, but not limited to, competitor race pack notes, the event briefing, course marking, marshals, officials, contractors in place etc.) are a service to me and other competitors but are not a guarantee of safety.
I accept that I have an important responsibility to carefully read, listen to and comply with all safety information, policies and rules provided and to immediately seek clarification on anything which is not entirely clear to me.
I have been advised to wear an approved helmet and other protective equipment such as elbow/forearm and knee/shin armour when riding. In case I participate in the Crankworx Christchurch Downhill I understand and confirm that I will wear the equipment for riders, according to the rules of Cycling New Zealand and MTBNZ Technical Regulations.
Race Materials
I accept the return of any timing transponder issued is my responsibility. If I fail to return the timing transponder, I agree to pay $150 NZD to Crankworx Christchurch per timing transponder.
Physical Fitness and Medical Treatment
I certify I am physically fit, have trained sufficiently for participation in this event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional or trainer. In my judgment I have sufficient competence, experience, and skill to complete the event using the equipment I chose to compete with on the day of the event. I do not believe that my health or safety, or that of fellow participants, officials, spectators, sponsors, contractors, land and property owners or members of the public attending the event will be put at risk by my participation in this event.
I hereby give consent to receive medical treatment which may be deemed necessary in the event of injury, accident and/or illness during the event.
I hereby give consent for Crankworx Christchurch and/or Crankworx World Tour Event Management to contact me and/or my family/caregivers to provide assistance and support, in the event that I, the rider, am injured during the course of the event.
Chairlift
Please note that age/height restrictions apply for children to ride the Chairlift solo.
Height restrictions apply to accompanied children.
Christchurch Adventure Park reserves the right to refuse entry and may ask those who break the code of conduct to leave without refund.
Lost Property
Any property found to be misplaced or lost onsite at the event will be returned to the Christchurch Adventure Park Guest Services Building for collection.
Liability
I hereby undertake for myself, support crew, my executers, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, signatories and assigns as follows:
Except to the extent set out in clause 20b below, to the maximum extent permitted by law, I waive, release and discharge from any and all claims and liability including for death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft, property loss, breach of contract, breach of law and all other foreseeable risk or claims or actions of any kind (including negligence and/or recklessness) whatever and however occurring which I at any time had or have as a result of or in connection with, directly or indirectly, my participation in and my traveling to and from this event the following person(s) or entities : Mountain Bike Events Limited, the Event organisers and Crankworx Events Inc.; land and property managers and/or owners, race directors; event sponsors; event volunteers; district or other councils in the area in which the event may be staged, or their respective representatives, respective officers, directors, employees, councilors, independent contractors, agents, and volunteers.
Indemnify and hold harmless the persons or entities mentioned in paragraph 20.1a above from any and all liabilities, claims, costs or actions (including negligence and/or recklessness) whatever or however caused, arising as a result of or in connection with, directly or indirectly, my participation in and traveling to and from this event.
If for any reason Crankworx Christchurch are liable in contract, tort, at law or otherwise, I agree that their maximum liability. shall be to a sum equal to the entry fee paid by me for this event.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes Crankworx Christrchurch’s obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
I hereby declare that all information given on the entry form is true and correct.

Image Release
As a condition of my participation in Crankworx Christchurch, I hereby unconditionally and irrevocably consent, authorize and grant Crankworx Events Inc. (“CEI”), the event organizers of each event, and their respective affiliates, sponsors, promoters, advertisers, broadcasters, webcasters, contractors, agents, representatives, licensees and assigns (together, the “Releasees”) all the necessary authority, right and license and permission to use photographs, audio or video recordings, or other forms of recordings that capture my image, likeness, voice or performance (or all of these) (collectively hereinafter referred to as “Images”), in which I may be included in whole or in part, in any manner or media, including print, broadcast, internet media, direct marketing channels, downloadable content and applications, and all other technologies now known or hereafter developed. I acknowledge that drones may be used in capturing these images and accept that they may be flying above me. The Images may be used or exploited for any commercial or non-commercial purpose whatsoever, and may be altered, modified, changed, combined, or incorporated into other works I hereby relinquish any rights I may have in the Images (including privacy, personality, and publicity rights. In no event shall I seek or be entitled to injunctive or other equitable relief in connection with the use of the Images. No fees or other compensation whatsoever will be provided to me for or in connection with the use of the Images. I hereby release the Releasees from any and all claims which I may now or in the future have relating to the ownership, reproductions, display, distribution or other use of the Images.
Participant Acknowledgement of Insurance
Athletes may be covered by New Zealand’s public insurance company – Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) – for treatment for injuries sustained while in New Zealand. This is subject to the decision made by ACC alone.

ACC does not cover treatment if an injured person leaves New Zealand and therefore is not a replacement for an individual’s travel insurance.
It is requirement that all international athletes have adequate medical / health insurance to cover and pay for any medical or other costs that may directly or indirectly result from my participation in Crankworx Christchurch. This includes but is not limited to, insurance for bodily injury (in and out-patient hospital expenses and medical care, transport costs, permanent disablement, death) and material damages (loss of earnings) in case of accident on the occasion of a cycling competition or during training, and third-party liability insurance for material damage or bodily injury caused to others in the course of a competition or cycling event or during training. Athletes must also understand that the Crankworx event organizers are not providing insurance coverage for each individual and by participating each athlete is willing to take full financial responsibility for any and all medical costs incurred as a result of their participation in this event.
Governing law
You agree that these Terms are, and any dispute relating to these Terms is to be, governed by New Zealand law.
