Crankworx SilverStar is On – and This Year, the Stakes Are Higher Than Ever

Crankworx SilverStar is one of the longest-running stops on the Crankworx calendar – a festival that has shaped careers, crowned champions, and turned a beloved BC resort into a proving ground for some of the biggest names in mountain biking. For riders who grew up lapping the bike park here, it’s home turf. For international stars coming in from across the globe, SilverStar is something else: top-notch courses, impeccable vibes, and a venue that commands respect.

There’s a reason this stop has been on the calendar for multiple years and is an athlete-favourite. Silver Star’s bike park is the real deal – lift-accessed flow trails and technical lines surrounded by the kind of high-alpine scenery that reminds you why you got into this sport in the first place. The resort has the infrastructure to host world-class competition without losing the community feel that makes Crankworx what it is. Local heroes and international names line up rubbing shoulders.

Slopestyle Super League Goes Into Playoffs

This year’s SilverStar Slopestyle presented by Signature is not just another star-studded competition. It’s a playoff. The Slopestyle Super League season has been building all year, and SilverStar is where it gets serious: the top 3 women and top 7 men from this event punch their tickets to the SSL Final at Crankworx Mont-Sainte-Anne. That’s the difference between going home and going to the final. Expect riders to throw everything they have at this course.

On the women’s side, Alma Wiggberg, Zoe Witwicki, and Lisa-Marie Blanc are among the names fighting for those coveted final spots – a trio that brings serious trick repertoire and the ambition to match. The men’s field is equally loaded: Lucas Huppert, Erik Fedko, Dane Folpp, Tim Bringer, Ben Thompson, Kaidan Ingersoll, and Lukas Skiold are all in the mix, with plenty more in the start list ready to make their case. While practice is up and running, finals take over on Saturday, August 8, at 4 PM.

Downhill: Defending Champions and Title Contenders

If the DH field at SilverStar looks stacked, that’s because it is. Tegan Cruz arrives as last year’s winner and reigning Crankworx DH Series Champion – a target on his back and plenty of motivation to back it up on Dag’s DH trail. There’s a similar picture on the women’s side with Mille Johnset coming in as the defending SilverStar DH winner and Crankworx DH Series Champion, while Sian A’Hern and Emmy Lan are vying for gold, among a stacked field of athletes.

Adding to the depth: Luke Meier-Smith, Kye A’Hern, Lucas Cruz and Jackson Frew are only a few of many riders on the list, capable of putting together a run that disrupts the order. And keeping an eye on all of them is Ryan Gilchrist – current, two-time King of Crankworx – competing in both Downhill and Pump Track this weekend.

Pump Track: Head-to-Head and High Stakes

The Pump Track Challenge presented by RNDM opens the weekend on Friday night with chainless racing that rewards pure fitness and track feel. Local Bas Van Steenbergen is a name to watch here, as are Ryan Gilchrist, Tegan Cruz, Jordi Scott, Emmy Lan, Taylor Ostgaard, Nils Bensink, Dan Butterworth, Jackson Frew, and Kye A’Hern – a field that spans disciplines, all chasing the same tight corners, the same podium, and the pursuit of the King & Queen of Crankworx title.

Friday, August 7
The weekend kicks off with the Pump Track Challenge presented by RNDM, with Kidsworx competition running from 1 PM before Youth, Amateurs and Elite take over the course at 3:30 PM. Chainless head-to-head racing, music, and pure energy – it’s the perfect kick-off to the weekend ahead.

Saturday, August 8
Kidsworx DH presented by Tourism Vernon at 12:00 PM. The next generation takes the hill.

Crankworx SilverStar DH Group A Seeding in the morning to set the field for finals on Sunday.

SilverStar Slopestyle presented by Signature Finals: The SSL Playoff arrives at 4 PM.

Sunday, August 9
Coined “Downhill Sunday”, we will see Finals of all categories competing on Dag’s DH trail. With Continental Series, Canada Cup and BC Cup points on the line, the stakes are high for all riders taking on the course.

The SilverStar Slopestyle presented by Signature has multiple accessible viewing zones across the course, so you can catch every trick from wherever you land. And if you want the full picture, a limited number of sightseeing passes on the chairlift are available – floating above the Slopestyle course with a bird’s-eye view of one of the most technically demanding events in the sport.
