Crankworx Cairns 2025 Returns With New Courses, Top Athlete Line-Up and a Whole Lot of Party in Paradise
Get ready for the fourth edition of Crankworx Cairns, the Party in Paradise, set to light up the lush tropical rainforests of North Queensland from May 21-25, 2025. Hosted at the iconic Smithfield MTB Park, this festival blends the raw beauty of the rainforest with the world’s most exciting mountain bike action – all just a stone’s throw from the Great Barrier Reef.

This year’s lineup is packed with crowd favorites and thrilling new additions, including:
- RockShox Downhill Cairns – Gravity-fueled speed down the gnarly “Worlds” DH track at Smithfield. See here on Trailforks.
- Specialized Dual Slalom – Fast, head-to-head racing with technical precision on a revamped course, adding extra challenges.
- Crankworx Cairns Slopestyle – The ultimate showcase of airtime and technical mastery, hosting the world’s best riders.
- Crankworx Cairns Pump Track Challenge – A test of flow, speed, and power – all chainless on the smooth red soil.
- Crankworx Full Tilt – A soon-to-be legendary event making its global debut, promising to push the limits of what’s possible on two wheels.
Athletes to Watch
Keep an eye out for these standout athletes:
- Ryan Gilchrist (AUS): Reigning King of Crankworx, known for his speed and consistency across multiple disciplines – particularly dangerous on Pump Track and we’re sure he’ll conquer the Full Tilt course in no time.
- Martha Gill (GBR): Queen of Crankworx 2024, known for her versatility and dominance in the women’s field. She is one of the best Dual Slalom athletes on the Crankworx World Tour and returning for redemption after a crash in Rotorua.
- David Godziek (POL): Fresh off his Triple Crown of Slopestyle victory, making him one of the most dominant riders in the discipline. Missing the season kick-off at Crankworx Rotorua, he’s now returning from injury.
- Alma Wiggberg (SWE): Rising star and first female Red Bull Joyride victor, known for pushing the boundaries of women’s Slopestyle. Coming back after a shoulder injury, Crankworx Cairns Slopestyle will be her first SWC event of the season.
Community Vibes and Local Events
Crankworx Cairns isn’t just for the pros – it’s a celebration of the entire mountain bike community. Expect a packed lineup of Kidsworx events, Women’s Ride-Outs, and the brand-new Quadzilla Enduro, where amateurs and pros can test their skills on a unique, technical course through the Smithfield rainforest.
