Slopestyle Super League Update: Standings After Round One
The inaugural Slopestyle Super League (SSL) season is officially underway following a high-octane opener at Crankworx Christchurch earlier this February. Set against the sculpted dirt of Ōtautahi, the first stop of the Regular Season delivered one of the most stacked Gold-level fields in FMBA history, bringing together established champions, hungry challengers, and the sport’s rising generation. From the first rider dropping in, Christchurch set the tone for what promises to be a defining season for Slopestyle Mountain Biking.
A Stacked Field at the Ōtautahi Slopestyle
The Ōtautahi Slopestyle brought together seasoned champions and fearless young guns in a showdown worthy of the League’s debut. Leading contenders including David Godziek, Erik Fedko, Patricia Druwen, and Nicholi Rogatkin defended their ranks against rising stars like Chance Moore and Kaidan Ingersoll, alongside the next generation of talent including Damien Anhder and Ayden Siebenaler among many others.
Run after run, riders delivered massive amplitude, technical trick combinations, and the kind of progression fans have come to expect from elite Slopestyle competition. With a deep field and little room for error, consistency and composure proved just as important as creativity. Fans can rewatch the full competition on the Crankworx YouTube channel.

Introducing the Shootout Round
The Ōtautahi Slopestyle also marked the debut of a bold new competition element: the Shootout.
Designed to enhance fan engagement while creating a more sustainable competition format for athletes and event organizers, the Shootout invited riders within 10 points of the podium after their second run to throw down one final trick on a feature of their choice. With up to 10 additional points on the line, everything could change in a single moment up until the very last second.
The format delivered exactly what it promised: late drama. Riders took big risks in a last-ditch push for points, reshuffling the rankings and keeping the outcome uncertain until the very final trick of the event. The concept will continue to evolve with athlete and FMBA feedback as the Slopestyle Super League season progresses.

What’s Next on the SSL Calendar
The road to the Playoffs continues with increasingly high stakes:
- March 15: Crankworx Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza (Rotorua, NZL)
- Diamond-level points on offer—massive opportunity to reshuffle the standings.
- May 30: Bikefest Kálnica (Slovakia)
- July 25: Red Bull District Ride Groningen (Netherlands)
- August: Crankworx Whistler (Canada)
- The final stop of the 2026 Regular Season and last chance to lock in Playoff positions.
From there, the League moves into a two-part Playoff, starting at Crankworx SilverStar (Aug 6-9) and culminating in a winner-takes-all Final at Crankworx Mont-Sainte-Anne in September.
Rotorua Line-Up Takes Shape
Attention now shifts to Crankworx Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza in Rotorua, where another stacked field is set to battle for valuable Diamond-level points. The start list has seen a few late changes following injuries sustained around the Christchurch event. Ben Thompson was sidelined after a crash in Ōtautahi Slopestyle practice, while last year’s silver medalist Kaidan Ingersoll is also out due to an injury. Moving into the competition based on the rolling 52-week FMBA rankings are Lukas Skiöld and Jaden Chipman, both earning a major opportunity to prove themselves at the Diamond level and cement their place among the sport’s elite. Young Canadian Jack Feick steps into the male alternate position. The big players on the Rotorua stage will include Erik Fedko – fresh off his Ōtautahi Slopestyle victory, last year’s winner Tim Bringer, David Godziek, Chance Moore, Nicholi Rogatkin and many more.
The Crankworx Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza will also see the return of two riders coming off breakthrough seasons. Dane Folpp and Johanna Nußbaumer, the 2025 FMBA Red Bull Rookie of the Year winners, secured their qualification for the McGazza Slopestyle and now get their shot to measure themselves against the world’s best on one of the sport’s most iconic courses.
On the women’s side, the spotlight will shine on Alma Wiggberg, who returns to competition after injury. Undefeated in Crankworx Slopestyle events since Crankworx Whistler 2024, the Swedish standout faces a competitive lineup that includes reigning Slopestyle World Champion Robin Goomes, current SSL leader Shealen Reno, Harriet Burbidge-Smith, Patricia Druwen, and Nußbaumer. Natalia Niedźwiedź sits in the alternate position should a spot open in the field. Full start lists can be found here: www.crankworx.com/results/start-lists/
With Diamond-level points on the line and several athletes looking to build momentum – or prove they belong – the Rotorua showdown promises another pivotal chapter in the Slopestyle Super League season.
