Slopestyle Stars Light Up SilverStar: A Weekend of Big Moves and Bigger Dreams at the Crankworx Summer Series
The second stop of Crankworx Summer Series Canada is delivering big air, big names, and even bigger stakes. As crowds gathered for today’s SilverStar Slopestyle presented by Signature, yesterday’s action-packed schedule with Slopestyle qualifying and Pump Track presented by RNDM set a powerful tone for what’s to come. With two wildcard entries for Red Bull Joyride on the line – one for the men’s and one for the women’s field – the pressure was surely on at today’s Slopestyle finals, producing palpable excitement among fans and athletes alike.
Slopestyle Action: Heavy Hitters and Breakthrough Performances
Also on Saturday, after a brief rain delay, the Slopestyle course came alive for qualifiers. Featuring a mix of seasoned champions and rising stars, the roster was stacked with names like David Godziek, Erik Fedko, Alma Wiggberg, Patricia Druwen, and Robin Goomes.
Despite tricky early conditions, riders threw down massive runs to vie for a spot in today’s finals. In the men’s field, reigning Slopestyle World Champion David Godziek topped the leaderboard, followed closely by Canadian up-and-comer Ayden Siebenaler and Germany’s Tobey Miley. On the women’s side, Alma Wiggberg, last year’s Red Bull Joyride winner, led the charge. She was trailed by Johanna Nussbaumer, making her Crankworx debut, and comeback queen Lisa-Marie Blanc, returning strong from injury.
With perfect conditions and a massive crowd lining the course and tuning in from home, today’s SilverStar Slopestyle presented by Signature finals delivered a show of world-class athleticism and raw progression. The top 8 women and top 16 men dropped in not only with podium finishes in their sights but with one eye firmly on Crankworx Whistler. This Gold Level FMBA Slopestyle event was the final stop before the grand finale of the Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championship (SWC): Red Bull Joyride. For the top-ranked rider in each category not yet pre-qualified, a wildcard spot to the biggest stage in Slopestyle was on the line.

On the women’s side, Alma Wiggberg – the first woman to ever win Red Bull Joyride – was untouchable from the start, claiming gold with her signature amplitude, fluid combos, and technical execution. Behind her, Germany’s Johanna Nussbaumer stunned in only her first Crankworx season, throwing down a composed and progressive run to earn silver and, more significantly, the women’s wildcard invite to Red Bull Joyride. Rounding out the podium was fellow German Patricia Druwen, currently leading the SWC standings. For Nussbaumer, who’s only been riding bikes for a handful of years, this moment marks a lightning-fast rise and signals the explosive momentum of the next generation of female Slopestyle riders and a flourishing German Slopestyle scene.
In the men’s field, reigning Slopestyle World Champion David Godziek laid down a textbook-perfect run to secure gold on his first attempt, a run that balanced high consequence tricks with finesse and composure. German rider Tobey Miley followed closely with an electric performance, earning silver and punching his ticket to Red Bull Joyride via wildcard. “I just wanted to have fun on my bike, and it worked out!” says Miley, who’s no stranger to the SWC as he clinched another wildcard to the Maxxis Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza earlier this year. “It’s the biggest childhood dream of my life to ride [Red Bull] Joyride, and now it’s real, and I got the wildcard, and it’s so insane!”
Third place went to Suisse, Lucas Huppert, who improved his score in the second run with an incredible combination of tricks, taking away a bronze medal and a confidence boost for Red Bull Joyride.

More than just a contest, today’s event stood as a powerful glimpse into the global future of Slopestyle. Riders from around the world brought amplitude, creativity, and world-class progression to the mountain, setting the tone for what’s sure to be an unforgettable Red Bull Joyride in just two weeks’ time.

Pump Track & Dual Slalom presented by RNDM: A Royal Return
Friday night saw the Dual Slalom presented by RNDM unfold on a fast and loose course crafted by none other than local hero and former King of Crankworx, Bas Van Steenbergen. The race not only offered valuable points for the Crankworx Dual Slalom Series but also carried major implications for the King & Queen of Crankworx standings – a first for a Crankworx Summer Series, highlighting the significance of this festival.
In his first race back since a wrist injury sustained at Crankworx Cairns, Ryan Gilchrist reminded everyone why he’s the reigning King and the leader in the current standings, clinching gold in a gritty return to form. Caroline Buchanan mirrored that achievement on the women’s side with a powerful performance. Jordy Scott and Tegan Cruz earned silvers after tight final battles, while Jackson Frew and Martha Gill claimed bronzes.

The action-packed weekend at SilverStar rolled on with the Pump Track presented by RNDM on Saturday night, where riders faced off in chainless matchups that demanded both power and precision. With valuable points on the line for both the 2025 Crankworx Pump Track Series and the King & Queen of Crankworx standings, the stakes were high and the battles were tight. Reigning King of Crankworx Ryan Gilchrist made a bold statement in his comeback tour, clinching his second gold medal of the weekend after a dominant performance. On the women’s side, Jordy Scott and Caroline Buchanan met again in the gold-medal matchup, with Jordy Scott securing her first Crankworx gold of the season, gaining key momentum and a crucial points boost in the Queen of Crankworx race. The silver medals were shared by Caroline Buchanan and Niels Bensink, both riding strong in their respective fields, while local legend Bas Van Steenbergen and current Queen titleholder Martha Gill rounded out the podium with bronze finishes.

What’s Still to Come
With the Dual Slalom and Pump Trach Challenge – both presented by RNDM – and the SilverStar Slopestyle presented by Signature in the books, lots has happened, but the festival is far from over. Tomorrow, the BC/Canada Cup DH – a UCI Continental Cup race – concludes an action-packed weekend.
From Slopestyle icons to thrilling head-to-head battles, SilverStar has become a proving ground for what’s to come in Whistler’s 20th-anniversary celebration, August 8–17.
