Crankworx Innsbruck 2021: It’s On

Crankworx Innsbruck Whip-Off competition presented by POC

Day one has come and gone and we’ve only just begun.

Today, we kicked things off with the Whip-Off Contest where jumps, mid-air flair and graceful (or dirty) landings took centre stage. Qualifications were made, fun was had, and social media was hype.

But, while today we felt stoke in the sky, tomorrow is all about competition as we begin our live broadcasts on Red Bull TV, starting off with Specialized Dual Slalom Innsbruck. But, let us revel in today’s stoke a little longer.

Our amazing photographer, Clint Trahan, has pulled together his favourite shots from today. Keep scrolling for our photographer-slash-superfan’s photo picks from Crankworx Innsbruck Day 1.

Dual Slalom and Pump Track await – until tomorrow, #crankworxfamily.

This photo of the Whip-Off comes in at number one. Kaos was as his namesake goes. I’ve never seen a whip where the rider goes as backwards for as long; and still brings it back. Purists will say the whip needs to be brought back, and I see their point; but c’mon; this is mind melting.
Dual slalom mountain biking practice.
Practice at Dual speed & Style. Peter Keiser has a deadly scrub on this feature, but Bas really nailed this one on this shot. I love the dirt flying off the tires. Pure fire.

This one is all about framing. The flat 360 framed perfectly in the trees was one of those happy accidents.
Two mountain bikers in a head-to-head race.
Obviously a pan was making it in. Casey’s eyes of determination lock the viewer into it. I love cooking with pans.
More a scenic shot than a true piece of action, though there IS a whip going on that jump – look at the people for scale. Innsbruck is just stunning. I’m SO thankful we got the weather for this event. I am in love with the scenes here. Like I said on social, I ain’t leaving!
