Crankworx Rotorua Day Six Ended Things On A High Note

And just like that, Crankworx Rotorua has come to a close.

In true Crankworx family fashion, the final stop of the 2021 Crankworx World Tour ended on a high note.

Athletes, crew, and friends and family from around the world tuned in to watch history be made as riders took to the Maxxis Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza course.

If you aren’t up to speed on the results of this epic race, now’s your chance to look away…

Not only did Emil Johansson win his sixth Crankworx Slopestyle gold medal in a row, he also earned himself the Triple Crown of Slopestyle… a feat done only by one other rider in the history of its existence.

We also saw Tim Bringer and Nicholi Rogatkin lay down some pretty impressive runs that landed each of them a coveted spot on the Crankworx podium.

But the fun didn’t stop with Slopestyle…

The King and Queen of Crankworx were crowned victorious after a challenging and physically demanding season of riding.

Congratulations to Vaea Verbeeck and Bas van Steenbergen who simultaneously also won the Cutest Mountain Biking Couple award… we’re only partially kidding, but that definitely is one epic Royal family!

Also atop the podiums were Kialani Hines (2nd) and Harriet Burbidge-Smith (3rd), as well as Tuhoto-Ariki Pene (2nd) and Jackson Frew (3rd).

To close out the 2021 Crankworx season, we awarded two Crankworx World Tour awards representative of what it means to be a part of the Crankworx family.

The Breakthrough of the Year Award went to Harriet Burbidge-Smith for her commitment to the sport of mountain biking, setting a foundation for years to come.

The Spirit Award went to Casey Brown for truly epitomizing what Crankworx is all about with her pure love for the mountain biking community.

As you can see, many celebrations were had!

Well riders, that’s a wrap on Crankworx Rotorua and the 2021 Crankworx World Tour.

It’s always hard to say goodbye, but it’s never forever…

We’ll see you in 2022, back and better than ever!
