Athletes aged 13-18* who would like to register for CWNEXT categories, click through at the registration links below. CWNEXT categories are available in the following events: 100% Dual Slalom, Rotorua Air DH presented by Bosch, Crankworx Rotorua Downhill presented by Gull**, and the RockShox Rotorua Pump Track Challenge presented by Torpedo7. Please note, CWNEXT races will be run like an amateur youth category. These competitions are designed to challenge skilled young riders. 

*Minimum age is 13 (year of birth 2007) as of December 31, 2020.

**There are special license requirements for all competitors in this race. Please review the note on “RACE LICENSES” on the event registration page carefully.

REGISTRATION

Online registration is closed. All entries are now non-refundable or transferable (even in the case of injury).

Registration will not be offered onsite – only a check-in desk for pre-registered competitors.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Entry fees are refundable (less processing fee) providing cancellation notice is received in writing to athletes@crankworx.com by 11:59pm NZDT on February 29th. Enduro refund requests need to be recieved by February 25th, 2020 at 11:59pm NZDT.

All entries are non-refundable or transferable after the registration deadline (even in the case of injury or mechanical problems).

Competitors who need to withdraw after the registration deadline should email athletes@crankworx.com to confirm their withdrawal otherwise they will appear on the start list as a DNS.

ATHLETE AGREEMENT/WAIVER

All registered competitors will be required to sign the Athlete Agreement prior to collecting their race plate. Agreements can be signed at the time of Athlete Check In / Plate Pick Up.

Race plates cannot be issued unless there is a properly completed Agreement.

If you are 18 years or younger, you will need a parent or legal guardian to sign your Athlete Agreement. Minors who will be traveling unaccompanied to the event will need to make advance arrangements to have the Agreement signed and bring a printed copy to check in. Please see below to download the agreement.

Parents, teammates, friends, … that want to collect the race plates on behalf of another racer can download the Agreement and (if applicable) Foreign Rider Insurance Acknowledgment and bring the completed document(s) to the Athlete Centre.

Foreign Competitors: Non New Zealand residents will be required to sign an acknowledgment that they have adequate medical / health insurance to cover and pay for any medical or other costs that may directly or indirectly result from their participation in Crankworx.

NEW ZEALAND IMMIGRATION 2020

Everyone travelling to NZ (who does not have an NZ or Australian passport) will need a Sports Event Visa or NZeTA (Electronic Travel Authority) for entry to NZ.

Attendees will fall into 2 categories:

  • If the visitor is from a “visa waiver” country, then only an NZeTA will need to be applied for. The visitor waiver countries are listed below via a link. To apply for the NZeTA, click here.
  • If the visitor is not from one of these Visa Waiver countries (or Australia), then the visitor will need to apply for a Sports Event Visa. To apply for a Sports Event Visa click here. Visitors who fall into this category may need an immigration letter. Please email athletes@crankworx.com to request a letter if required.

PARKING

Parking will be available at the Rowi Street Reserve and along Kawaha Point Road on a first-come first-served basis.

Please note: There is no parking available in the Skyline carpark at any point during event week. Please use the designated parking areas.

RACE CATEGORY ELIGIBILITY

Race Category Eligibility (age and gender) for all Crankworx events will be determined by the athletes Cycling NZ or UCI license. For athletes who do not possess a Cycling NZ or UCI license, and do not require one for any of the races in which they are entered, Race Category Eligibility (age and gender) will be determined by the athletes birth certificate or passport. Athletes may be required to provide evidence at the point of athlete registration or accreditation (at the discretion of the Athlete Manager or Event Director).

AS A COMPETITOR, DO I ALSO NEED TO PURCHASE A SPECTATOR PASS ?

No. all registered competitors will receive accreditation valid for access to Skyline March 1-8, 2020

DO I NEED A LIFT TICKET?

No. You will not need a lift ticket for official practice, or to participate in an event that you are registered in. Your entry fee covers any lift or bus shuttle access you need for official DH practice sessions or competition.

If you are wanting to ride the Skyline park just to ride, then you will be required to purchase a ticket.

SPECTATOR AND ATHLETE SUPPORT PASSES

If you have friends and family that want to come watch you compete, they will need tickets to access to the Skyline venue. General Admission Tickets can be purchased onsite or online at http://www.crankworx.com/rotorua/passes/.  General admission to the Skyline venue starts at 10am.

General Admission Tickets are also required for team managers, mechanics, coaches, parents…  but any Athlete Support that will need earlier access to the Skyline venue will be able to exchange their General Admission Tickets for an Athlete Support Pass .  Only available for Adult General Admission Ticket holders – doesn’t apply to General Admission Family Pass holders. Exchange can be made at the Skyline Athlete Registration office.

DO RACERS GET LIFT LINE PRIORITY?

If gondola access is required for your event, priority access will be granted; however, the park may be open during events so please respect other riders.

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT TIME I’LL BE RACING?

Event times are posted on the event schedule. The start list will be posted online the evening prior to the event. Copies will also be posted in the Athlete Centre on the morning of the race.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR A FULL FACE HELMET?

Full-face helmets are required for all Crankworx events (Downhills, Dual Slalom, Enduros, Whip-off, Dual Speed & Style, Pumptrack and Slopestyle)

SPECIAL PROTECTION RULES FOR RIDERS IN THE ROTORUA DH

Racers in the Crankworx Rotorua Downhill will also be subject to other mandatory protection requirements as per Cycling NZ Rules

Spinal/shoulder protection, neck brace and full finger gloves highly recommended.

Ages 16 and under:

TIMING TRANSPONDERS

Timing transponders will be collected at the finish of the race. Racers who withdraw or do not complete the race should return the transponders to the Registration Office in the Skyline Management Offices.
Lost or damaged transponders will be assessed a $150 NZD replacement fee.

MEDICAL SERVICES / FIRST AID MANAGEMENT

First response and medical services at Crankworx Rotorua are provided by Peak Safety and Ascent Medical Support.

Peak Safety are experts in first response and extraction. They operate the Rotorua Mountain Bike Patrol and have wide experience in mountain biking and other outdoor sports. Peak medics provide on course first response across the Crankworx Rotorua events. Ascent Medical Support provide doctors for a range of endurance and extreme sports events around New Zealand. Their doctors are used to the specific requirements of athletes and mountain bikers. They run a field medical clinic trackside at the Crankworx Rotorua event village.

Crankworx Rotorua, Peak Safety and Ascent Medical Support are committed to proving high quality, up to date, medical services to competitors. Practice is aligned with internationally recognized guidelines.

Concussion is a specific area for focus in mountain biking. Crankworx Rotorua has a structured concussion assessment and management protocol in place for ensuring athletes get the best possible care when affected by a concussion. Ascent Medical Support are leading the way in developing a mountain bike specific protocol. The aim is to identify athletes at risk of further harm and make sure they can start concussion recovery in the most appropriate way. This process is aligned with recent international concussion research and with Cycling New Zealand protocols. For more information on the concussion protocol please contact athletes@crankworx.com

Ascent Medical Support operates a track side clinic for assessing and managing injuries as they happen. The doctors are also able to follow up athletes on site during the Crankworx week as required. This includes follow ups for athletes at risk of a concussion. They are also able to arrange xrays and further treatment through local Rotorua providers. INSURANCE

All athletes are covered by New Zealand’s public insurance company – Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) – for treatment for injuries sustained while in New Zealand.

ACC does not cover treatment if an injured person leaves New Zealand and therefore is not a replacement for an individual’s travel insurance.

Travel, medical and liability insurance is recommended when travelling and competing at any Crankworx World Tour events. Insurance coverage is not provided by Crankworx Rotorua.

As a condition of my participation in Crankworx Rotorua, I hereby unconditionally and irrevocably consent, authorize and grant Crankworx Events Inc. (“CEI”), the event organizers of each event, and their respective affiliates, sponsors, promoters, advertisers, broadcasters, webcasters, contractors, agents, representatives, licensees and assigns (together, the “Releasees”) all the necessary authority, right and license and permission to use photographs, audio or video recordings, or other forms of recordings that capture my image, likeness, voice or performance (or all of these) (collectively hereinafter referred to as “Images”), in which I may be included in whole or in part, in any manner or media, including print, broadcast, internet media, direct marketing channels, downloadable content and applications, and all other technologies now known or hereafter developed. The Images may be used or exploited for any commercial or non-commercial purpose whatsoever, and may be altered, modified, changed, combined or incorporated into other works I hereby relinquish any rights I may have in the Images (including privacy, personality and publicity rights. In no event shall I seek or be entitled to injunctive or other equitable relief in connection with the use of the Images. No fees or other compensation whatsoever will be provided to me for or in connection with the use of the Images.
