After 2016, Remi ‘Mitch,’ ‘Mimi’ or ‘Michel’ Thirion will forever be known to mountain bike fans as the Master of Mud, after taking top spot in the inaugural Crankworx Les Gets Downhill presented by iXS, an event of epic muddy proportions. His journey started long before he slid his way over the finish line and into the history books, starting out on a bike a three-years-old, and starting to compete at nine. He spent several years making a name for himself on the downhill World Cup circuit, making his Crankworx debut in Les 2 Alpes in 2015, where he also claimed his first Crankworx podium finish, taking second place in the downhill. The following year, the French rider came back for more, crushing his competition on what he describes as the muddiest track he’s ever ridden.
