Back FlipThe trick that makes everybody go ‘oooooh’. Look for riders to crank them bigger, slower and all tweaked in 09. Variations include the one-footed X-up back flip and the flip whip, a back flip avec tail whip... and who can forget Lacondeguy’s amazing clutch double that won the event in ‘08!
720
This could be the trick for 09. We haven’t seen too many 720s in Crankworx past, so when they go down it’s a big deal -- two complete revolutions of the bike.
Front Flip
The gnarliest maneuver on this list. It requires the perfect jump and major commitment - riders are totally blind until the landing. Watch the big kahunas step up and then step down with a front flip off the final Kokanee Kicker as they aim for their spot in the history books.
X-Up
A common style accoutrement where riders turn their bars 180 degrees mid jump. Longer you hold it, the more points you score.
Bar Spin
One step beyond the X-Up, riders spin their bars 360 degrees while airborne.
Tail Whip
Instead of spinning the bars 360, riders spin the bike 360. Look for tech variations like the Super Whip - a tail whip with legs extended horizontally in a Superman pose.
One-Footed X-Up Back Flip
You guessed it, a back flip with an X-up, one foot tossed off the pedal for added burl factor.
360 Tail Whip
A highly technical move that has riders mixing a 360 AND a tail whip in one air.
Superseater
Riders throw their legs out behind the bike and grab hold of the seat with one hand, the other hand still holding the handlebar.
Flat Spin 360 and 720
A 360 (or if you're crazy, 720) that's all tweaked, where both bike and rider rotate on more of a horizontal plane than a vertical one.
No Handed Can
Throwing a Can Can (kicking both legs out to the side of the bike while airborne) and letting go of the handlebars at the same time. Think flying squirrel impersonation.
