DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO BIKE?
Basic biking skills are recommended for all Kidsworx events. Novice, and above, biking skills are required for participation events. Competitions (B-line Race, Kidsworx Enduro, XC and Air DH Kidsworx invitational) have special biking ability requirements. For run bike events, children and toddlers should be ready to move their bike along a track.
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO HAVE THEIR OWN BIKE?
Yes. If your child has his or her own bike, please bring it as that is the bike he or she is more comfortable riding. Kidsworx Run Bike Races will be the only event that will have GIANT run bikes to borrow. Please make sure your child’s bike is in good working order.
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO WEAR A HELMET?
Bike helmets are mandatory for all events. Full-face helmets are mandatory for the Kidsworx B-line Race, race stages of the Kidsworx Enduro (open face can be worn on the transitions), Air DH Kidsworx Invitational, and Spawn Cycle Kidsworx Pump Track Challenge (competition).
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO WEAR OTHER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT?
Each event has mandatory protective equipment that is required and your child must wear all mandatory protective equipment, otherwise they will not be allowed to compete. Please read each event details for this information.
Protective equipment rentals are available at G1 Rentals, located in the Whistler Village Gondola building under the GLC.
HOW OLD DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO BE TO ENTER A RACE EVENT?
For all competitions, your child must be the minimum age by December 31, 2016. (i.e. for the 7-9 year old category, any child who is 7 or turning 7 by the end of the year, meaning they are born in 2009, meets the minimum age to compete)
Age categories based on year of birth:

WHERE IS THE KIDSWORX CHECKIN LOCATED?
DOES MY CHILD NEED A LIFT TICKET?
Lift tickets are required to access the start of the Kidsworx Enduro, Kidsworx B-line and Air DH Kidsworx Invitational. Discounted lift tickets for race days will be available at the onsite checkin. All tickets MUST be purchased at initial registration/check-in. Lost tickets cannot be replaced.
Kidsworx Pump Track Challenge and XC race located at Blackcomb Base 2 – and Village Crit at the Whistler Olympic Plaza; these races do not require a lift pass.
WHY DO I HAVE TO ACCOMPANY MY CHILD TO THE TOP OF THE B-LINE, FUNDURO AND AIR DH COURSE?
The Age Policy for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park is that all children 5-12 years must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian (18yrs or older) or registered in a Bike program.
I HAVE A BIKE, BUT NO LIFT TICKET AND I NEED TO TAKE MY CHILD TO THE TOP OF THE B-LINE COURSE, FUNDURO OR AIR DH INVITATIONAL.
Parents will be able to purchase a discounted race day ticket when they initially register/check-in their child onsite. This ticket will allow access to Whistler Bike Park for a parent to ride with their child on Fitzsimmons Chair or Whistler Gondola and escort them to the top of the course.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A BIKE? HOW CAN MY CHILD REACH THE START OF COURSE FOR THE KIDSWORX B-LINE RACE, FUNDURO RACE AND AIR DH KIDSWORX INVITATIONAL?
Parents will be able to purchase a discounted race day ticket when they initially register/check-in their child onsite. This ticket will allow access to Whistler Bike Park for a parent to escort their child up the Whistler Gondola to the top of the B-line, Kidsworx Enduro or A-line course at mid-station. On race day, both courses will be closed to the public and have marshals the length of the course. Parents can drop off their child with the top marshal, take the Gondola back down and meet their child at the bottom of the course.
If a parent has a pass that allows for summer sightseeing access (i.e. winter season’s pass or summer sightseeing pass), they can also use the Whistler Gondola for this drop off purpose without purchasing a race day lift ticket.
CAN I FOLLOW MY CHILD DURING TRAINING AND RACING FOR THE KIDSWORX B-LINE RACE ? FUNDURO ? AIR DH INVITATIONAL?
B-line and Kidsworx Enduro: Yes. Parents will not have a timing chip, so will be able to follow for all training laps and for race lap.
Air DH: No, parents will not be allowed to follow for closed course training or racing. Please drop your child off at the top of A-line with the top marshal and there will be marshals along the course to look out for them. You can follow your child on Aline during non official training times.
WHY IS THE AIR DH KIDSWORX INVITATIONAL AN INVITE ONLY EVENT? HOW CAN I GET MY KID TO PARTICIPATE?
For safety and insurance reasons, we have limited this race to an invitational format in order to select participants that we know can clear comfortably all the features in A-line with speed, in a race format. If you think your child has the ability to race in this event, you will be asked to contact our Kidsworx director closer to the event.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL AN EVENT, DO I GET A REFUND?
Every year there is a cancellation deadline we post here.
