SAINT DEEP SUMMER PHOTO CHALLENGE WELCOMES STEVE LLOYD AS THE WILDCARD PHOTOGRAPHERSecond Place Wildcard Adrian Marcoux Will Also Join Roster Of World Class Contenders WHISTLER, BC July 27, 2010 - Pinkbike.com fans have declared Steve Lloyd of Salt Lake City, Utah the winner of the Saint Deep Summer Photo Challenge Wildcard contest. After tallying over 11,000 online votes, Lloyd rose to the top and will join the roster of world-class mountain bike photographers competing in Deep Summer at Kokanee Crankworx Wednesday, August 11. Invited pro photographers Paul Morrison, Sven Martin, Nicolas Teichrob and Jordan Manley will be joined by Wildcard winner Steve Lloyd as well as a second Wildcard contender, Adrian Marcoux.“I am stoked to compete in Deep Summer! I really want to get my name out in the bike industry and there couldn’t be a better way,” says Lloyd. “So far I have Eric Porter and Kelly McGarry on board as riders. I have never been to Whistler - shame on me, I know - but maybe that will work to my advantage. I love showing up somewhere new and photographing it for the first time. It's all fresh and my creative mind really starts to work.” Adrian Marcoux ran a close race to Lloyd on the Wildcard contest on Pinkbike.com. In a turn of events he has been granted the opportunity to compete in the Saint Deep Summer Photo Challenge as a second Wildcard contender due to an unforeseen schedule change for invited photographer Sterling Lorence. I am now going to be in California for the week of the photo contest,” says Lorence. “So, with a story board ready and in place, I will have to put the Deep Summer project on the back burner for another year. I hope to be able to shoot it out in 2011.” With some of the industry's best mountain bike photographers lined up to compete and two exciting Wildcard entries poised to burst onto the scene, the Saint Deep Summer Photo Challenge is going to be an unbelievable show at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, August 11. The photographers will work against the clock, and each other, to create a slideshow from images shot over three days in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and on Whistler's cross-country trails. Each show will be presented to a live audience at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler with first place taking home $3,000, second place $2,000, third place $1,000 with an additional $1,000 up for grabs for the best photo of the evening. Tickets are $17 and on sale now at Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations. They can also be purchased over the phone by calling 1.866.218.9690. The inaugural Saint Deep Summer Photo Challenge sold out last year and organizers anticipate it will happen again so be sure to purchase tickets in advance.
