Volunteer Job Descriptions

VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED STARTING MAY 2012

Competitor Relations will function as a liaison between staff and competitors. You will assist with answering general inquiries as well as the registration process. Any race experiences either competing or organizing registration will be a benefit for this position. If you want to meet the stars of the events this position is for you.

Sport Crew is an on hill position that is directly involved with all the action! You will be responsible for assisting with race venue set up, maintenance and tear down. Other responsibilities include helping at the start or finish areas as well as ensuring safe and correct travel on course by all competitors. This outdoor position requires you to be a self sufficient and motivated individual willing to get your hands dirty. Down hill bikes, a helmet and intermediate riding ability is an asset but is NOT REQUIRED for this position.

Event Office Assistants will be responsible for making sure volunteers are checked in and out each day for their appropriate department and shift times. They will assist the Volunteer Coordinator with various tasks throughout their shift such as phoning volunteers about their upcoming shifts, following up with required paperwork, volunteer prizing, and wrap up party details. The Assistants may also be required to pitch in and help any areas of the festival including media check in, and expo. An adaptable attitude and outgoing personality is required for this position. Being available for split shifts is preferred.
 
Expo Crew will ensure all aspects of the village Expo run smoothly. Attention to detail and adaptability are essential for this job. You will assist with anything that may be required by the Expo participants (tent set up/tear down, garbage maintenance, recycling, security). This position puts you in the centre of the village action. Must be available for split shifts.
 
The Branding Crew is responsible for the look of the festival. The placement of branding and banners changes daily for each event and the branding crew makes it all happen. If you have an attention to detail, good hiking shoes and aren’t afraid of a little hard work and dirt, than this position is for you. Ideally the branding crew would have consistent volunteers throughout the festival so grab a friend and sign up as one today. Must be available for split shifts.
 
Timing Volunteer will be reserved for approximately 4-6 volunteers who will be assigned to assist our timing crew for the duration of the festival. The chosen volunteers must be available to work every day of the festival or close to it. The duties included in this position are: Spotter to finish, manual bib order recorder, scoreboard operator, plate collector, finish line host and manual timer.
 
The Production Crew is responsible for all camera and video footage of the festival. As a volunteer, you would be right in the mix of it all, assisting the production crew with whatever they need, even working some of the cameras yourself! If you’re looking for an up close and personal experience, than this position is for you. We are looking for reliable, punctual individuals who can stay in position for long periods of time and have a steady hand.
